What to expect in class...

A gentle warm up, learning key bellydance elements in a warm, friendly environment, and learning to use new moves to some beautiful middle-eastern music. Bellydance moves are great for toning up your core muscles around the abdomen, pelvis and torso, without realising you are exercising. No previous dance experience is necessary, just the desire to dance, have fun and feel feminine!

What to wear;
Any comfortable clothing, but not jeans or other restrictive clothes. Many students like to wear a T shirt and dance pants/leggings, or a long flared skirt. We tend to dance barefoot, but soft, non-slip dance shoes would be acceptable. Bright colours are welcome, and if you have a scarf, shawl or hip belt to bring along you will find this useful. We will have some spare scarves and things to try at class.

Do I have to be fit before I start classes?
A general level of fitness is OK, and the movements can be performed in a very gentle fashion and are suitable for all ages, shapes and sizes. You will be asked to complete a general health disclaimer when you come to your first class, but we would recommend you check with your doctor or other health professionals before commencing, if you have any concerns about health or medical conditions. We are unable to give advice on the suitability of bellydance for people with health issues.
