• It's not all about shaking your belly!!

People are often put off by the idea of bellydancing, thinking that you have to expose your stomach area, but you don't have to if you don't want to!

It is thought the term 'bellydancing' comes from the fact that most of the moves are driven from your central core of muscles, most noticably in the stomach area (same as your 'six pack'). However, we use LOTS of other muscles too!!

We can choose for the moves to be high- or low-energy to suit all abilities, and we use props to enhance the moves and give us an element of fun in the dance too.

So why not have a look at some of the routines we have been practising in class - and imagine yourself joining us next week at the Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre! You would be very welcome :)

  • Fabulous Gala Evening booked for next Spring!

I am so pleased to announce details of my first Gala Evening - on 3rd March 2018! This is not an ordinary hafla, but an evening to come and relax, eat delicious food, and watch some amazing dancers from London and the North West perform dances from across the Arab regions.

We will have Egyptian, Tunisian, Iraqi, Arab-flamenco fusion, tribal style and live drumming in a whirl of sparkles and colour!

It's all in aid of raising funds for Windmill Fundraising Campaign (https://www.justgiving.com/companyteams/windmillfundraising) which in turn is sharing donations between the Neurosurgery Department at Salford Royal Hospital and the Breast Care Specialists at the Christie Hospital

So save the date and look forward to a great evening helping us raise funds for such good causes xx

  • A Busy Summer

Wow! We've been very busy recently. Not only performing and teaching 5 times during the Wythenshawe Games, but also at the Lifestyle Centre open day two weeks later.

Then just last weekend we had the wonderful Summer Sizzler Hafla, where amateur dancers from across the North of England came to perform to a warm and welcoming crowd, meet friends, eat, chat and have a dance.

We have been working on a new troupe costume, and learning some new routines for class and maybe to perform later.

So we're all ready for September, welcoming new dancers into class, and cheering up those darkening evenings

    See you in class xx

  • Come and see us at the Wythenshawe Games!!!

The Wythenshawe Ganes are a fantastic, free event for all abilities, and this year we are taking part offering short bellydance taster sessions - and hopefully enticing yet more people to take up this wonderful hobby!

We will be doing four sessions over the first two days of the event - at 1pm and 3pm - so if you're nearby, why not come along, see what's on offer, and try something new?
